Which of these 3 kinds of People are you?
I shared some thoughts yesterday about living our lives EXACTLY as God designed. Doing Exactly what He is calling us to do today. We can do that. We can KNOW the purpose and assignment God has for us right here, right now.
We can know why we were born. What we were born to do and be. We can know without a doubt. Without confusion. Without fear. Without missing out.
I heard a sermon recently that I cannot get off my mind. You know it’s not only a GOOD sermon when that happens but it’s a GOD one.
God had a message for me in what I heard.
The Pastor was speaking on Freedom in Christ, one of my passion topics and he made this statement:
“There are 3 kinds of people in this room right now…there are:
1) Orphans
2) Slaves
3) Free Son’s and Daughters of God
He proceeded to describe those 3 places of life in what some may have felt was a pretty aggressive, “cut-to-the-chase” style.
I loved his description of those CHOICES one makes for life.
1) Orphans: A Parent-less Child. One who does not know his or her Abba Father.
2) Slave: One held in bondage or captivity by another person or situation–lies, wounds, heartbreak, failure, loss–that is build upon by Satan.
3) Free Son or Daughter of God: One who knows his or her Abba Father as well as the rights and privileges that provides and lives a life that reflects it.
It saddens me so to see so many people, even those who claim to know Christ as Savior, still living as if they are 1) Orphans or 2) Slaves when we should always be pressing into, claiming, getting up and brushing off our knees for a life of Living Free!
I am studying the Book Of Galatians right now and love how Paul just cuts to the core of this tragedy. He does not mince words when he says in Galatians 3:3 “Are you so foolish?”
Okey Dokey. Sometimes I THINK that but I never actually SAY it 🙂
Later in Chapter 4 he says “I fear that I have WASTED my efforts on you….”
He did it again. No wishy washy Paul speaking.
Paul cuts to the chase because he knows that TIME IS SHORT! Like I said yesterday…it is blowing away moment by moment. There is no time to waste.
Paul leads this diatribe into a very clear checklist to ask the questions we need to answer in order to SEE for ourselves which of those 3 lives we are living.
Here it is. You may want to refresh you mind on it like I did today:
The Galatians 5 —-Checklist of Orphans and Slaves
Sexual Immorality, Impurity, Debauchery
Idolatry and Witchcraft
Hatred, Discord, Fits of Rage, Dissension
Jealousy and Envy
Drunkenness
Selfish Ambition
Checklist of FREEDOM—
Joy, Peace, Love
Patience, Kindness, Self Control
Gentleness, Faithfulness, Goodness.
I honestly had to have some “Come to Jesus” time over a few of those things.
I am a FREE WOMAN OF GOD!! I want my life to show it. Daily.
Moment by Moment.
How’s it lookin’ for you?
Did you need a reminder of any of these things like I did??

I am on a ROLL! Join me will you? I want to hear and learn from you!
I definitely needed to refresh on these words! The most important tidbit I’m taking from this post is that it truly is day by day. Moment by moment. And if we fall victim to slavery? Get up, dust off…and renew our minds. Thanks, Pat!
Praise God that His grace is NEW every morning!! Our Freedom is once and for all but our Flesh has to be set straight over and over right 🙂 Mine sure does.
Blessings TODAY Amy,
Pat
Ok, I have been ALL three types, but praise God, I am not a Free Daughter of the King. Yippee!! So thankful for mercy and grace!! Blessings to you, my friend.
Darling Leah—I am sure you meant NOW a Daughter of the King–LOL :). Again, Happy Birthday!
Thanks for this amazing blog! I needed that reminder. I gave my life to Christ on May 6,2011 and I know Christ is speaking to me in so many ways. I grew up in church and performed for God, clutched onto others light for a long time. Now, as I have the light in my own heart, I can feel satan trying to put it out using those points above. I am no longer a slave or orphan I am a beloved daughter of the most high God! Thanks for the reminder that it is Satan taughting as only he can…I choose the privileges of Christ over the chains that the world offers. I make many mistakes, but those mistakes no longer define me because in Him I find my true identity 🙂
