The Power of Prayer
My feet have just touched ground after a wonderful weekend spent with 5,000 sisters and the Sweet Unmatched Word and Presence of God.
We have been praying for the past six months as we prepared our city and our churches to host Lifeway’s “You Lead” ” Conference for Woman followed by Living Proof Live with Beth Moore and Travis Cottrell at Idlewild Baptist Church in Tampa.
Excitement has been building. Expectations were high and we were not disappointed. It was truly a life changing weekend.
One of my favorite things about being a part of these events is being allowed to pray with sisters who are facing deep loss or pain. Sometimes they run to the alter as hard as they can. Other times they barley have the energy to crawl. During these conferences I have heard just about every kind of prayer requests there is to hear. One woman I prayed with this weekend travailed over for the recent death of her precious son in a car accident, another, the sudden unexpected loss of her young husband and father of her babies, another woman whose marriage had been ripped apart by her best friend, along with a sister whose past was so dark and black she was suffocating under it’s weight.
God is faithful. He hears our prayers. He responds. He cares.
The thing that concerns me is how many of us don’t KNOW WHAT GOD SAYS!!!! If we do not know God’s promises, if we do not know God’s WORD, we are powerless to FIGHT!!!!
The earnest, heartfelt prayer of a righteous man makes TREMENDOUS POWER available. (James 5:16)
Prayer is personal communication with GOD, The Father. He is MORE THAN ENOUGH. But, WE have to KNOW HIS WORD!!!! We have to know truth in order to fight with TRUTH.
The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, those who are upright and in right standing with God. His ears are attentive to their prayer. (1 Peter 3:12)
Our prayers matter. Our prayers have POWER.
EFFECTIVE Prayer—Prayer that WORKS— Takes Gods’ living Word and SPEAKS it Forth in FAITH.
Our mouths must speak what GOD says. NOT what life circumstances look like. NOT what the Dr report says. NOT what our broken hearts see. What God SAYS. By speaking God’s Word we put ourselves and Him in remembrance f His Word (Is 43:26) placing our expectations and our trust in HIM alone. He says that He supplies ALL OF OUR NEEDS according to His riches in Glory by Christ Jesus (Phil 4:19)
After having left that prayer alter on Saturday morning, I received a TEXT Message telling me of a Prayer Need that someone I Love and Adore, a very precious part of my life, my family, needs prayer. Right Now—Today.
I believe in the power of prayer. I believe that God is who He says He is and will do what He says He will do.
I Believe that the Word of God is mighty and powerful to the pulling down of strongholds.
Do not let God’s Word depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart, For they are LIFE unto those who find them and HEALTH to their flesh. Proverbs 4:20-22
One thing I always remind MYSELF and the women I pray for is that as we pray, we must BELEIVE.
Today–THIS IS WHAT I BELEIVE FOR THE ONE I LOVE—
He sent His Word and healed him—Ps 107:19,20
So shall my Word go forth from my mouth and it shall not return unto me void, but shall accomplish that which I please and prosper where I send it.–Is 57:19
Sickness and Disease have NO Power over my loved one–Col 1:21,22
Jesus bore our sickness and carried our Pain. He heals ALL of our diseases–Ps 103 and Ps 107
Our God Reigns!
Awesome reminder, Pat, and thanks! I worship, I worship, I worship….
It was such an amazing weekend. Praying with other women left me completely humbled. I am always amazed at how God allows me to do these things.
I will be praying for your family member.
Love you!
I just read this today. Thank you for writing this. I needed to see this. I have to believe and want it. I have to speak what God says and not what my circumstances say.
