Promises, Promises, Promises

Our family was blessed with an amazing Easter weekend. We all gathered at a cottage on the water. My Mom, as the family Matriarch, said the word, and it was done!

My Mom and I have the very rare blessing of having all of our children living very close together.

I have 3 sisters who have a total of 22 family members (as best I can count) and Honey and I have a family of 12! We all live in the Tampa Bay area within minutes of one another.

We all had a blast and went home very FULL. I brought 9 pounds of snow crab and the food just went on from there. It was a day long graze!!

I was thinking on it this morning in my quite time and praising God for family and the precious season of blessing that we are experiencing.

As I praised and thanked Him, I heard Him say….”I promised you!”
I immediately flipped my Bible open to Psalm 103.
I have this one plastered on my bathroom mirror so that I read it daily and claim its promises:

Psalm 103 (New International Version)
1 Praise the LORD, O my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
2 Praise the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits-

3 who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
5 who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
6 The LORD works righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.
7 He made known his ways to Moses,
his deeds to the people of Israel:
8 The LORD is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.

9 He will not always accuse,
nor will he harbor his anger forever;
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
13 As a father has compassion on his children,
so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;
14 for he knows how we are formed,
he remembers that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are like grass,
he flourishes like a flower of the field;
16 the wind blows over it and it is gone,
and its place remembers it no more.
17 But from everlasting to everlasting
the LORD’s love is with those who fear him,
and his righteousness with their children’s children-
18 with those who keep his covenant
and remember to obey his precepts.
19 The LORD has established his throne in heaven,
and his kingdom rules over all.
20 Praise the LORD, you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his bidding,
who obey his word.
21 Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts,
you his servants who do his will.
22 Praise the LORD, all his works
everywhere in his dominion.
Praise the LORD, O my soul.

It is so important for us to KNOW what God’s Word says. What His promises are!

Things have not always been hunky-dory in our family. We are not always having fun or celebrating, but one thing that I ALWAYS DO is KNOW what God says about anything we are experiencing.

If there is sickness, I search God’s promises and speak them out.
If there is strife, I search God’s promises and hold them in my heart.
If there is financial need, I know what God says about His provision.
If there is an issue in relationships, I seek God for truth and direction.

I know what God’s promises are and I know HOW to speak them.

Regardless of my circumstances I know that God’s Word is true and will accomplish ALL that He says it will as long as I live my live according to His WORD.
If you have received the Lord Jesus into your heart.
If you have acknowledged His death on the Cross and His Resurrection power.
If you have professed your need for a Saviour and claimed Him as your Lord, YOU HAVE PROMISES!!!!!
The question is DO YOU KNOW WHAT THEY ARE???

I found Psalm 103 a long, long time ago.

When God said “I promised you” to me in my prayer chair this morning, I knew exactly what He meant!!

Do you know God’s Promises??
If You will share a promise that you are holding onto today, I will drop your name into a drawing for one of these two books about the promises of God:

God does not break His promises.

  1. My promise from God is provision. I have been praying for certain things and this is what he gave me today.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened”
    Matthew 7:7-8

I was also reminded today that “It’s time to rest”. It’s time to be still and make no more requests. It’s time to wait, wait for the doors to be opened.

The word “Unplug” was given to me by God last week. I had to unplug in order to hear from him. There are things going on in the heavenlies regarding me and he will provide! He is so GOOD!

It reminds me of that song, “I will praise him, while I’m waiting”.

    Love to you.

  2. Jennifer,
You are so right, God is good and the best news is that HE WANTS TO BLESS US!! How cool is that to rest in!! Thank you for sharing your heart!
    much love,
    pat

  3. I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord! ..Plans to give you hope and a future! jeremiah 29:11.

No matter what is happening in my life, I know that He has a plan and a purpose and it is a good plan, even if I can’t see the good every minute, I can trust in Him!

  4. Good morning, Pat! Thanks so much for visiting my blog! I decided to hop over to yours and stayed for quite a while–with a glass of sweet tea, of course!! Yours is such a blessing! I am going to add it to my sidebar so I can come back for more uplifting thoughts, scriptures and pictures!

Seeing that I have not had my quiet time this morning, yesterday’s promise from God was Ephesians 3–Paul’s prayer for Spiritual Growth. I want to claim His unlimited resources to be empowered with inner strength from His Spirit. I simply need to be filled with HIm each day so I can pour Him out for others!

I hope that you will be at She Speaks this summer! I hate that I missed you last year! It was truly awesome!! Have a beautiful day, sweet friend!

    Hugs,
    Susan

  5. As I was reading your post and the scriptures, I just cried because many years ago God promised me something too. It just hasn’t come to pass. At times it is hard to continue to believe…

Almost 10 years ago, God spoke to my heart and said that He will repay what the locusts have eaten. Would you pray for me that He would do that and that I would obediently follow His lead in order to accomplish all that He desires to do?

  6. I have had a very estranged relationship with my parents most of my adult life. My Mom and I had a HUGE healing for one year prior to her Home Coming. My Mom has been gone 6 years now and my Dad has pretty much separated from me after that, I wonder if I just remind him to much of her?

    So I cling to:

    Psalm 27:10
“Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me.”

  7. Thank you for visiting my blog. I see you are a Floridian as well.
We’ve been dealing with unemployment issues here and God gave me this promise last week.”For I know the thoughts and plans I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome” Jer.29:11 His Word sustains me even during the worst trials.

  8. Psalm 103:4 “who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion”, this has become a favorite for me. The more I get up infront of strangers to give my testimony the more evidient this scripture is to me. Praising God for His redemption and Love!

  9. This is the one I’ve been clinging to lately: 2 Peter 1:3 “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” AMEN!

Thanks for leaving the comment on my blog as it gave me a chance to visit your’s! I spent some time sifting through your website and learning more about you and the ministry God has given you. Bless you sister! Glad to have ‘met’ you here in blogworld.

  10. When my dad died 8 years ago,God gave me Romans 8:28 as my dad took his last breath. At the time,I wasn’t familiar with the verse but now I hold it close to my heart.

God has taken my messed up life and is now using it for His good.

  11. Hi Pat!
Thank you for your sweet comment you left on my blog. I was coming by to tell you that and was reminded of how much I love your blog and your message. This was a great post for me to read today as there are some areas in my life that, well all areas, but there are some specific areas in my life that I seek out others opinions, etc. before I do God’s if at all. This was really good for me to read and remind myself that He is the One I need to look at for everything! Big and small, He wants to be the first One I turn to. Thank you so much for lovingly reminding me of this.
God’s promise to me today is that “When you seek me with all your heart you will find me.”
    Blessings,
    Lelia

  12. Lelia,
YOUR God word was for me today!!! I am currently in a boat that is being storm rocked by the opinion of others. Thank you for your visit,
    Pat

  13. I’m new to your blog! Very beautiful!

I received your inagural edition of Surrendered Sisters Newsletter today! Also attended one of your CareNet workshops on Balancing Family and Ministry. I recently listened to the CD again and found the message timely once more!

The promise that came to mind is Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.”

I just keep hoping and praying the ‘child’ will not have to be ‘old’ before he turns back!!!

    I will visit again soon.

Deborah (Another sister who laborers for LIFE!)
