My Last Post

On the 14th Day of Christmas, my TRUE LOVE gave to me….A Pause.

This will be my last post…This year 🙂

God is calling me in that silent voice of His….to rest for a while. To rest my constant thinking, to rest my discontent, to rest my tireless efforts to please and be pleased. He is calling me to a place of quiet, a place of reflection, a place of listening and noticing where He is working.

He has actually been calling me for a while but I have fought hard. I have refused to wrap life around His promise to take care of things for me if I step away. I have refused His Rest. I just can’t refuse any longer. I love Him too much. He loves me too much to stop calling.

In Prince Caspian, part of C.S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia, Lucy, the youngest of the wandering children, longs to see her her treasured king and friend, Aslan. One night as the other children peacefully sleep, Lucy hears a soft voice calling her into the forrest. She follows the voice and finds her long lost friend. here was her response:

“Aslan, Aslan. Dear Aslan” sobbed Lucy. “At Last”

The great beast rolled over on his side so that Lucy fell, half sitting and half lying between his front paws. He bent forward and just touched her nose with his tongue. His warm breath came all around her. She gazed up into the large wise face.

“Welcome child,” he said.

“Aslan,” said Lucy, “you’re bigger.”

“That is because you are older, little one,” answered he.

“Not because You are?”

“I am not. But every year you grow, you will find me bigger.”

I am not surrounded by snow this Christmas, but I am surrounded by lots of “white space”. It was space I fought, a gift I wanted to give back. But my King has been persistent. He has been calling me.

I want to find myself in His PAUSE….so that I might grow a little over this season and find HIM BIGGER!

Please continue to share your comments below as you visit. I will draw a name for the Free Kindle on Christmas Eve and post it here! Otherwise my friend:

I give thanks to my God for every remembrance of you, always praying with joy for all of you in my every prayer, because of your partnership in the gospel, from the first day until now. I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Phillips 1:3-6

Blessing to you! Enjoy every minute of your Christmas celebration and I will see you here next year!

I believe God will renew you as you allow Him to fill you in your time of quiet and rest. Good for you, dear sister. May your Christmas be joyful and your new year one of God’s many blessings. In both the joy and the difficulties of this road we travel. Kristi

  4. Merry Christmas Pat. Thank you for all of the reflections you have shared with us. It has provided me strength as I begin my time of pausing and allowing GOD to do His job of taking care of me.

    Enjoy the holidays.

  5. As I find myself in my bed for the third day, with the flu, on the eve of Christmas Eve, I think God has been calling me to white space I don’t want either. I pray that as I get through this, with six kids hopeful for Christmas, a house that is absolutely upside down, and really nothing I can do about either right now, God would be my peace and I would find him bigger as he makes me lie down in a time when I don’t think I should have to. Sometimes he has to make us.

  6. I appreciate that you are setting yourself apart for a time of rest & renewal. I don’t “do” rest very well! When I need it, He forces it on me till I finally listen. I want to choose it more quickly this next year 🙂 Thank you for sharing your story. Merry Christmas, Sandy
