It is Well with my Soul

When peace like a river attendeth my way,
When sorrow like sea billows roll,
Whatever my lot, thou has taught me to say,
“It is well. It is well with my soul”

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And has shed His own blood for my soul!

My sin—oh, the bliss of this glorious thought—
My sin, not in part but in whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul.

For me be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live;
If dark hours about me shall roll,
No pang shall be more, for in death as in life,
Thou wilt whisper thy peace to my soul.

It is well; It is well.  It is well; it is well.
It is well. It is well with my soul!

This song has been rolling around in my head all day. Can’t you just sing it right now??

I have been away from my blog for a few weeks now and ALL has NOT been well with my soul. I have literally been from the mountain to the valley and up again over the past few weeks. Actually, I think I have only made it about half way back up so far. You can probably relate right? I have experienced some “Peace like a River” days since my last post, as well as a few “Sorrow like Sea Billows Roll” moments.

One of the Peace like a River days happened with a group of long time ministry friends as we hiked in Colorado, a LONG WAY through some REALLY STEEP MOUNTAINS only to slide down a mud hill into the most amazing valley of wildflowers I have personally ever walked amongst.

It was a moment that I will never, ever forget.

Another moment of Peace that I have experienced over the past MIA/BLOG weeks was meeting my new Literary Agent, Rachelle Gardner of WordServe Literary Agency. I have prayed for someone like Rachelle for a long time. God brought me the right person for the right time. I am thrilled to have met her face to face and look forward to watching God do His next thing. I hope my relaxed chatting style on the blog doesn’t scare her off but she seems pretty tough. She has an amazing and wildly popular Blog herself. If you are interested in writing, you should check it out.

One the, “Sea Billow Sorrow” side, our family has prayed, fasted and begged God through a few particularly trying and scary times over the past several weeks but His faithful love endures forever. He has carried us, shown us His mercy and grace and leaves us still leaning upon Him. The BEST place to be!!

I have NOT—NOT been writing the past 2 weeks either. I have completed a book proposal and 3 Chapters, now in Rachelle’s possession as well as a magazine article for Lifeway’s January issue of Homelife Magazine!!

PLUS, drum roll please, had my first ever appearance on a magazine cover called “Overflow”. That was very sweet but very weird at the same time.

Those are just a few of the things I have been keeping busy Rockin’ and Rollin’ through–

How about you?? Right now, today, are you on a mountain high or a valley low? Is all “well with your soul”???

  1. Welcome back, Pat. I’ve missed you. It seems that life is just chock full of those valleys and mountains, doesn’t it?

Congrautations on linking up with Rachelle. I’m so eager to go check out her blog. I pray that partnership is a blessing for both of you and I’m eager to see what the Lord does through it.

Have a totally blessed day, my friend.
