“I do not have The Christ”

I love change.

The thing I love most about God is how He, although never changing in the ways that matter, is always doing a NEW THING. He is always blessing us in new ways.

Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Isaiah 43:19
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

I get that.

I understand how He can do both things and still be consistent. I have been married to the same man for 35 years and served in the same ministry for 25 years but I am ALWAYS coming up with a new thing. Ask anyone who knows me:)

I love it when God does something entirely NEW and unexpected—or something OLD in a NEW way, within that promise of “never changing” in my life.

3 years ago God blessed me with an unexpected opportunity to have a Bible Study that I wrote 25 years ago, published by Lifeway.

Oh my. I had no idea what would follow that blessing but I knew it was going to be good.

When I traveled with the Lifeway camera crew and was told they had just left doing a video for Beth Moore, I felt like I was having an out-of-body experience.

The next 3 days of wardrobe, makeup, filming and freaking out moments were definatley A NEW THING 🙂

I thought it might NEVER be topped. I actaully asked God….HOW CAN YOU “MORE” THIS Lord? How can you?

One of my favorite verses has always been Eph 3:20

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!

I mean, I can IMAGINE BIG THINGS!! For myself and for others! How can God keep doing MORE??

But He does. He keeps topping what He did last.

I was recently training a group of church leaders on how to reach MORE men and women through post abortion recovery.

One came up to me after the training and shared how she had held her first Surrendering the Secret Bible study in her church. A woman who was attending spoke very little english and had to be helped along through each chapter. After working at home on Chapter 6, “The Great Exchange”, she came to the next meeting obviously distraught. When my leader friend asked her what was bothering her she said in her broken English…

“I could not do the last chapter…I do not have The Christ”.

My sweet leader friend simply asked our broken sister, “Would you like to have THE CHRIST?”

When the woman nodded her head yes, the leader grabbed her hands and led her in the prayer of salvation.

As my friend told me the story tears rolled down both of our cheeks. I have heard stories about new and reclaimed salvation through the study but they never get old. They are always NEW. I NEVER take them for granted. I always thank God for the privilege of using my words to lead someone to HIS WORD!!

The cry of this woman’s heart got me. “I do not have The Christ”.

God, you have done another NEW THING!! You have allowed a study I wrote in pursuit of my own healing over 25 years ago, to give birth to a new eternal soul. I am so glad I have you Lord. I am so glad you have me.

    YES I do have The Christ and I just love him more and more.
