God Watching Me Do Nothing!!

Oh Lord, you have SEARCHED me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with ALL OF MY WAYS. BEFORE A WORD is on my tongue you know it completely. Psalm 139:1-4

Good Morning Summer Sizzle Sisters!

I didn’t get my weekly post up yesterday because I was on an ADVENTURE–an adventure in DOING NOTHING!

YEP!!—That’s not me but it IS MY ADVENTURE! 🙂

I went paddle boarding with my kids! It was AWESOME! I loved it but it did a number on my energy level and left me with a sunburned back. So, I went to bed early and woke up late.

YHOO-HOO! I love Summer!

Paddle Boarding is slow; relaxing; peaceful. Once your establish your “center of gravity”– you stand up and start paddling. It is slow and easy in fact most of the time our eyes were fixed on life BELOW the water table.

Colorful fish, slow moving seagrass and even an occasional water critter! I saw a beautiful stingray and on one adventure, my son chased a sand shark until it got mad and turned around to chase HIM! Those sharks can get so testy! Paddelboarding truly is a brain resting adventure. We all need more of those do nothing times don’t we!?

How about you, what can you do this week that will allow God to see you doing NOTHING? Take a slow bike ride or a walk? Lay on a float in a pool or lake? Drag your feet back and forth across the ground under a swing or a rocking chair?

One of my “G” girls who is turning 9 in a few weeks made the very grown up observation while riding on my board yesterday:

“G when you are younger than 8, you want to do everything fast and noisy but when you turn 9, you like to be peaceful and quiet sometimes”.

OMG—I ’bout fell off my board!

Our first verses this week is Psalm 139:5-6 which is possibly my favorite:

You hem me in behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me. Such knowledge is TOO WONDERFUL for me, TOO LOFTY for me to attain.

Oh my, what would my life be like without God’s Word. I can’t and don’t want to imagine that.

I want to remind you that my motto for this study is EASY!! SLOW PACED and No Pressure. I am old like that, way older than 9, and am claiming that freedom for myself as well as for you.

There is NO PRESSURE in your study process but there is ONE REQUEST that I have, that is to know that you are here, doing this study with me. We have mailed close to 100 books. PLEASE LET ME KNOW! Let US KNOW, that you are here with us. It is SO EASY–Just say Hello in the comments. Share your study; share your week; share your late sleep in or your vacation plans. Share your struggles. Share something funny from your kids or grand-kids! Share a word or two in response to the Born to Bloom Book questions! Just let me know you are with us!

Happy Monday Summer Sizzle Sisters!

My love to you!

BTW–We did get all of our book orders completed last week so if you have placed an order and not heard from Suzanne, you may want to check in today to be sure your book is in the mail.

Looking Deeper–Over the past couple of years as I have wallowed so deeply into Psalm 139, I have loved my beneath the surface study of the heart of the author of this Psalm about God’s all seeing eye and inescapable presence. As I study, I am often thinking of David’s fears, questions, passion and love for God. If you would like to go deeper and want to join me in a parallel adventure into David’s heart, start with 1 Samuel 16 and just read for enjoyment as much as you want, as little as you want, to learn more about David.

  1. Hey Pat…I’m here!
This last month has been filled with a lot of mixed emotions because my world has been rearranged. Our daughter got married this last month and moved to NC with her husband, who is stationed there with the Army. I’ve started the study, but I must be honest, its been hard to keep my mind from wandering.

    love~Tammy

    1. Tammy, I am so glad to hear from you. I completely understand LIFE TRANSITION–oh my, life is a constant learning curve!
You are a blessing. I will be thrilled to hear how God continues to work in your heart and life this Summer!
      hugs,
      Pat

  2. So glad you were able to enjoy a peaceful and restful weekend! My book has still not arrived, but I talked to sweet Suzanne on Friday and they should be on the way.
This past week has been such a drastic change from our semi-retired, laid back, living at the lake lifestyle. Our oldest grandson has been visiting and we have been able to be involved in his life of baseball, shuttling back and forth to practice, games, and even attending a weekend tournament. When back at our house it’s been cooking, cleaning, washing clothes and entertaining him while he is able to spend time with us. It doesn’t happen very often, so we have enjoyed the opportunity to be with him.
Needless to say, quiet time and Bible study have taken a back seat, but I’ll get caught up after our lives return to normal. God is good…all the time!

    1. Hi Sharron, no worries, timing is NOT an issue in this study!
Thank you for saying HELLO and staying connected!

  3. Hi Pat,
Bet you thought I drifted into cyber space. I didn’t. I’ve been enjoying my 3 and 4 year old this summer – double yum! I’m trying to make sure I take it in because I know inevitably they will grow up. Anyway, I am so glad I am taking a deeper look at Psalm 139. I have read this scripture countless times before and never paid attention to the intentionality God took to let me know how much He loves me. Wish I could’ve gotten this years ago; hindsight. is 20/20. I was so moved by Psalm139:1 that I wrote an article about it that I am going to send to some Christian Magazines. I’ll send it to you because you and I both know how long winded I am 🙂 .This week I enjoyed reading about how even the darkness is not dark to God. It was such an encouragement because I have found myself in some dark places. How wonderful it is to know there is no dark place I can get myself into that will keep me from the love of GOD! Thanks for the study Pat.
