Fresh Word Friday

“Ludicrous”

That’s my word for today.

I have been reading the story of Joseph in the Bible and have just completed today’s reading. As I tried to capture a word for some of the things we see happen on these pages of scripture, this is the word that popped into my head.

Ludicrous: Absurdly Ridiculous

That may seem negative but I don’t mean it to be in ANY way!

There are so many depths found in God’s Word. The characters, the circumstances, the emotions, that He has chosen to use to weave us through the sands of time are truly “ridiculous” if you are using the word in a modern culture kind of way.

My daughter uses it when she spots an outfit that she loves or a dessert that looks to good to describe.

Every page of the Bible holds intensity of relationships, history, betrayal, lust, jealousy, passion, power plays, true intimate love and surrender.

I LOVE this stuff! I love God’s Word. I love allowing it to transform me and mold me into someone who is fashioned for His purposes, thinks like He thinks, says what He says, and hopefully does what He does.

What is the most LUDICROUS thing you have read in God’s Word lately? How does it relate to your life??

Think on that and if you are not doing another study—I would love to have you join me on my walk through God’s Word using “The Essential Bible Guide” by Whitney Kuniholm, Waterbrook Press (2003).

We could talk about the many ludicrous life situations found on the pages of scripture and on the pages of our personal diaries!

I will share more next week about what I wrote in mine after reading Genesis 43 and 44.

  1. The most ludicrous thing I’ve read in the Bible: There are many but how about Psalm 139:1 “O Lord you have searched me and you know me.” To think that he KNOWS me and still likes me….well that is just plain ridiculous. I don’t even like myself many days, so for Him to like me and even love me. Just blows my mind!!
