A Baby Changes Everything!!

Christmas music started playing in my house yesterday!! As I started to put away Fall decorations and drag out my Christmas ones my stereo helped to usher in the holiday change.

There is a Christmas song by Faith Hill that I love that begins with these words:

“Teenage girl, much too young, unprepared for what’s to come, A baby changes everything, A baby changes everything.

Not a ring, on her hand, All her dreams and all her plans, A baby changes everything, A baby changes everything”

The words are all too familiar in my life. “Sarah Jones” walked through the doors of “A Woman’ Place Ministries” this past summer after been rejected by the abortion facility next door.

Sarah did not have an opinion about what the President of our Nation thinks about abortion. She did not wonder about the agenda of Speaker of the House Pelosi who desires to include in our National Health Care Reform Bill. She didn’t catch the recent news about the Planned Parenthood Director who resigned from her job after taking the time to watch an abortion performed through the eyes of an ultrasound machine. She did not consider the millions of innocent babies who have lost their lives to abortion over the past 35 years, nor even the destruction that occurred in the hearts of the mothers who aborted them. Sarah did not give a minute’s thought to the abortion debate that has raged in our nation since 1973.

All Sarah cared about on that day was the plan she had to have a “safe and legal” abortion only to discover that this clinic did not abort babies as far into pregnancy as she was. There are others who did, they told her, but she didn’t have the money or the time to find one.

For Sarah, her only thought as she walked out of the front door of that clinic was “A Baby Changes Everything” and she needed help.

Fortunately, with a simple turn of her head Sarah found help. She found “A Woman’s Place” which is the abortion alternative ministry of Life Impact Network, the ministry God has allowed me to be part of for over 20 years.

Sarah gathered her nerve and walked through the doors. She did not find rejection; she found love. She did not find politics; she found Kleenex and someone to hold the box for her. She did not find national health care policy; she found health care. She did not find debate; she found hope.

Over the next few months the team at “A Woman’s Place” embraced Sarah and helped her realize that every life matters to God. Her unborn child’s life and her life! She was helped to consider all of her options and was supported and strengthened as she began to build a vision for her future and her child’s future. As she did, a plan for adoption unfolded.

Later in the Summer of 2009, John and Mary walked through the doors of Life Impact Network. They inquired about the opportunity to adopt a child who might otherwise be aborted. They were referred to “The Woven Basket” Adoption Agency and were led through the steps of creating a Christian home for a child whose mother had chosen life and an adoption plan for her unborn baby.

In early November Sarah chose John and Mary to be the Mom and Dad for her soon coming newborn baby.

During the first 10 months of 2009, hundreds of women like Sarah walked through our doors.

Over 300 mothers choose life over abortion.

5 families created a new Christ centered home for a new baby who would otherwise have been aborted.

A Baby Changes Everything.

That same Christmas song that I mentioned earlier, ends with these words:

“Shepherds all gathered ‘round

Up above a star shines down

A Baby Changes Everything

A Baby Changes Everything

A choir of angles sings

Glory to the newborn King

A baby changes EVERYTHING! Everything! Everything.

Hallelujah.

Hallelujah”

BTW…If you are considering a year end gift that will change EVERYTHING, I pray that you will consider Life Impact Network.

That’s what it should be about. Amen!

  2. Oh, Pat, I loved this post! God has really laid it on my heart to start a CPC in our town and you are such a inspiration to me. I have contacted CareNet and ordered their manual “How to Start a CPC”. Since there is nothing in our town that ministers to women with crisis pregnancies, I can skip the part about whether one is needed or not 🙂

BTW – I am honored and surprised that you chose my question for the newsletter!

    Blessings,
    Debbie

  3. Lisa,
It is such a joy to have you visit. I hung out with Mary Snyder a few weeks ago and she raved about the blogging retreat. Maybe next year I can join you! Or MAYBE, we will actually meet this year. I hope so.
    Bless you dear.

  5. Hi Pat – I am actually in NM not LA 🙂 and I have been thinking about possibly contacting you about having you come to our part of the world next fall sometime. I am tentatively planning on coming to San Antonio for your conference in April and I should have a better idea then of what we might can do here. Maybe we could visit then.
    Blessings,
    Deb
