Happy first Monday in September and our first verse in the Month of Monday’s Bible Study.

“There is a Time for Everything, a SEASON for every activity” Ecclesiastes 3:1

“Ecclesiastes” is a Greek word that is usually translated “the Preacher” or “the Teacher.”

Our scripture focus this month is TRANSITIONSmovement, passage, or change from one position, state, stage, subject, concept, etc., to another; change.

Here are some commentary notes I found on our verse for the week: “Ecclesiastes challenges the naive optimism that sets a goal that appeals to us and then goes after it with gusto, expecting the result to be a good life. The author’s cool skepticism, a refreshing negation to the lush and seductive suggestions swirling around us, promising everything but delivering nothing, clears the air. And once the air is cleared, we are ready for reality—for God.”*

We don’t have to be very old to realize the treasure and the tenderness of the seasons of life, right?!!

I have a treasured possession in my hands this season. One I have never possessed before. I have my Mom’s last written words. I have her calendar from last year. The last record of her last days. Family birthdays. Special events. Chores of the day. Doctor appointments.

My Mom left for heaven last year on October 16th. We miss her deeply and grieve her loss to us most every day. Every day when I pick up her last years calendar with her daily activities recorded in her hand writing I think of her. I think of how she lived her life so fully. So PRESENT! She still inspires me.

The desire of my heart is to fully and enthusiastically embrace every single day as God provides. Still sometimes, in the hustle and bustle of daily living, we forget to breathe.

We forget to smell.

We forget to touch.

We forget to pay attention.

This month–as we study God’s Word together, lets’ not miss it. Let’s pay attention.

A Time for Everything

1For everything there is a season,

a time for every activity under heaven.

2A time to be born and a time to die.

A time to plant and a time to harvest.

3A time to kill and a time to heal.

A time to tear down and a time to build up.

4A time to cry and a time to laugh.

A time to grieve and a time to dance.

5A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.

A time to embrace and a time to turn away.

6A time to search and a time to quit searching.

A time to keep and a time to throw away.

7A time to tear and a time to mend.

A time to be quiet and a time to speak.

8A time to love and a time to hate.

A time for war and a time for peace.

This weeks challenge: Look up this Chapter in your Bible and journal some thoughts about YOUR Season.

Share some of what you are embracing with me in the comments will you and I’ll share a Pumpkin Spiced Latte GIFT CARD with somebody who does :))

Loss? Harvest? Laughter? Tears? Searching? Mending? Quiet? Noise?…..

I would love to share in it!

Blessings,

Pat

  1. I would have to say the season I am in right now would be… a time to throw away! I have been in the swing of going through things and only keeping what I absolutely love ❤️ It has been very feeling and even started my husband along the lines of getting the garage back in order. Yay for the energy to do so and the ability to bless others with things they need.

  2. I love fall, always have, even though it is a season in which I miss my parents since both had birthdays in the next 2 months. But I know they’re in heaven with our Lord, and I just wish I could have a peek into what it’s like each day. I can only imagine! My husband and I are in a season of challenges because we’re older and our bodies are hurting more. He is retired, but not able to enjoy it because of pain in back and leg. He’s seeing doctors, but so far no real relief. I am in a season of realizing I need to get rid of “stuff”, and quit buying more “stuff”. Even with the challenges, we find that God is good and always faithful.

  3. My favorite season is spring when everything green comes back to life and the temperatures aren’t too hot or too cool. It is a great time to be outdoors and enjoy spending time with our family.

  4. I’m in a season of searching. I turn 50 next year and feel like I’ve wasted my first 50 by never doing my dreams or succeeding at any of my goals. I’d like more, more of God, more purpose, A PURPOSE.

  5. Greetings Pat!
I’m in a season of praying to take control of my emotions which tend to be out so out of control. I’ve always been one that cry’s easily, but since the Shingles that I got on my left side of my face and head, and the Epidural I had done in January for a Bladder procedure, created a spinal fluid leak. I’m all better, but was left me with side effects of extra brain fog and so mentally and emotional spent. So I decided to take a 12 week study called Mending the Soul. Praying this will help in more ways than one. I have to learn to Trust in Jesus more and not on my own understanding. Hugs to you! <3
